Complete Chiropractic
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I bring my children?
A: Yes, your children are most welcome at Complete Chiropractic, and may benefit from chiropractic adjustment also.

Q: Is it okay if I am pregnant?
A: Absolutely. Dr John adapts his technique to accommodate pregnant women, who find chiropractic can help give much pain relief and actually help with the delivery of the baby.

Q: Do I need to be warmed up before I come? Should I have a massage?
A: No. There is nothing in particular you need to do before you come.

Q: Will it hurt?
A: No, generally not. The tecnniques Dr John uses are gentle, but effective.

Q: Will I be fixed?
A: That depends on your particular case. But Dr John will answer that question for you after completing your examination with him.

Q: How long will it be before I am out of pain?
A: This varies from patient to patient. Some people find they get relief immediately, whereas others find it may take weeks, even months. Rest assured, Dr John is mindful of this, and will have other suggestions to help manage your pain through the process of correcting your spine.

Q: How long will I have to keep coming for?
A: It varies from patient to patient. It all depends on the individual - for example, how long the problem has been there, and the severity of the condition; your lifestyle, and age. It also depends on your own health goals. Some people choose to have a regular spinal check to maintain their spine for life.

Q: What clothes will I wear?
A: You should wear comfortable clothes (preferably not tight fitting jeans for example.) All our adjustments are done with your clothes on.

Q: What is the youngest age that my children can have chiropractic?
A: A child can be checked as soon as they are born. Sometimes the birthing process itself can be very traumatic. The youngest patient Dr John has adjusted has been one day old.

Q: Is chiropractic safe for older people?
A: Chiropractic is very safe for older people. Dr John takes care of many elderly patients, but obviously he modifies his techniques to suit each particular case.

Q: Is it safe if I have osteoporosis, or rheumatoid/ osteo-arthritis?
A: Yes. Dr John has many patients who have these conditions, and once again, he modifies his techniques to suit each person.

Q: What about shoulder and knee problems? Will chiropractic help?
A: Maybe, but that depends on what is causing the problem. Sometimes shoulder and knee problems can be coming from a problem in the spine or pelvis - hence we can help.

Q: Will it help cure my sciatica / carpal tunnel?
A: Yes, it can help if your problem is coming from the spine. Subluxations in your spine can cause sciatica and carpal tunnel. It is the job of the chiropractor to correct subluxations in your spine.

Q: What if I only have a slipped disk?
A: It is not possible to have a 'slipped disk'.
